Hello, salut, ciao, my name is Maria DiDanieli and I am a first year student in the Social Practice and Transformational Change (SOPR) program. I would like to invite you to join me in this video story about the Individual Development Plan, or IDP, that we are asked to create in this program.
The IDP is an opportunity for students in the SOPR program to map out their vision for, and progress through, the doctoral journey. Students begin to work on this plan as part of coursework in their first year, where they receive guidance from their course instructors, supervisors, peers and even upper class students. The IDP is a tool to assist students in moving through the program successfully while not losing site of their broader goals and objectives. The IDP framework provides a very holistic and learner-centered approach for initiating a successful PhD journey; keeping track of achievements, reflections and experiences along the way; and seeing research interests, design and benchmarks to completion. Once you have embarked on this work, its scope and potential will become clear – and the path to your doctoral, professional and life goals will unfold!
I know I was a bit in a fog about the IDP at first, so I am hoping that this video story will help demystify the IDP and its process for prospective and new students of the SOPR program.
